| Obverse description | Zeus seated left on throne, holding an eagle in his outstretched right hand and a scepter in his left; the deity is rendered in archaic style with bold, somewhat schematic musculature. A large bear's head or similar animal device appears above in the upper field, consistent with Arcadian iconographic tradition. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, typical of early hammered coinage from this region. |
