Obverse description Two-line Latin legend in the field, reading HLVDO above VVIC, separated by a central ornamental device consisting of small pellets or a stylized motif. The lettering is rendered in the characteristic uncial-influenced Carolingian script of the period, with broad, deeply struck characters filling the flan. The coin is bounded by a beaded outer border, partially visible on the irregular flan. No portrait or effigy is present, the royal name alone serving as the identifying legend.
