| Obverse description | Central field bearing a plain cross, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding annular legend, in Latin characters, reads the king's name and title. The outermost border is composed of a continuous row of triangular pellet ornaments, characteristic of Carolingian hammered coinage. The overall composition is typical of late Carolingian obol production, with the cross serving as the primary type symbol. |
