Obverse description Effigy of Kavad I facing right, depicted with a mural crown surmounted by a frontal crescent and korymbos set upon a secondary crescent, with two flowing ribbons extending from the crown. Crescent ornaments and star devices appear at the shoulders, with a star positioned behind the royal head. A trefoil of pellets is present to the right of the bust in the field. The margin is decorated with a series of star-in-crescent motifs arranged in a circular band, characteristic of late Sasanian royal coinage.
