Obverse description Confronted busts of Gordian III, right, laureate, draped, and cuirassed, facing the draped bust of Tranquillina, left, wearing a stephane. The obverse legend is divided between both sides of the field, reading ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΝΤ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟC ΑΥΓ CΕΒ ΤΡΑΝΚΥΛΛΙΝΑ, identifying both imperial personages in Greek. The facing busts composition is a characteristic feature of provincial coinage issued for imperial couples during the Severan and subsequent periods.
