| Obverse description | Central pattée cross within a raised inner circle, dividing the field into four quarters. The cross is boldly struck with flared terminals, characteristic of the Gothic hammered coinage of the period. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the inner circle, reading the lord's name and title. The coin's irregular flan and crude fabric are typical of feudal billon issues of 13th-century France. |
