| Obverse description | Within a trefoil frame, a shield bearing the Austrian fess is displayed centrally, flanked by the initials F, d, and a — abbreviations for Fridericus dux Austriae — positioned in the lobes of the trefoil. Small asterisks or annulets occupy the angles between the trefoil lobes, serving as decorative fillers in the field. The overall design is characteristically compact and roughly executed, consistent with the small hammered bracteate-style pfennig coinage of the Vienna mint under Duke Frederick V. The flan is irregular in shape, as typical of hand-struck issues of this period. |
