| Obverse description | Draped bust of Bahram V (Varhran V) facing right, set upon a floral ornament, wearing an elaborate mural crown surmounted by a korymbos mounted on a crescent. A single letter appears in the field behind the crown. The Middle Persian legend 'vrhran' is inscribed to the right of the effigy in Inscriptional Pahlavi script. The portrait is rendered in the characteristic late Sasanian hammered style with fine linear detailing. |
