Obverse description Central plain cross pattée dividing the field into four quarters, with a pellet or annulet ornament placed in two diagonal quarters. A circular legend surrounds the cross in the outer field, rendered in crude medieval Latin lettering typical of early 12th-century hammered coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hand-struck production of the period.
