| Reverse description | A kantharos (wine cup) depicted facing, with tall curved handles rising on either side, set upon a short stem and base, rendered in fine relief within a shallow incuse circle. The Greek letters M and Θ appear to the upper left and upper right of the kantharos respectively, with the letter A positioned to the lower right, together forming the ethnic abbreviation for Methymna. A small circular symbol, possibly a pellet or wheel, is visible to the lower left of the vessel. The overall composition is well-centered within the incuse square, characteristic of Methymnaean civic coinage. |
