Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing an Attic helmet adorned with an olive wreath and a prominent round boss at the crown. The goddess's hair falls in wavy locks beneath the helmet, framing a finely rendered profile with large almond-shaped eye and delicate facial features. The style reflects the Greco-Persian artistic tradition prevalent in fourth-century Cilician coinage, exhibiting skilled die-cutting despite the small module.

Additional information

Cilicia in the fourth century BC was a patchwork of semi-autonomous cities, Persian-backed dynasts, and briefly, Macedonian administrators — all of whom produced small silver on local standards without consistent attribution. The Traité II reference places this among issues that French metrologists struggled to assign with confidence even after decades of hoard analysis.

SNG Levante 244 draws on the Levante collection, which remains one of the few systematic assemblages of Cilician fractional silver, yet the issuing city stays unresolved.
