Obverse description Pegasus, the winged horse of Corinthian iconographic tradition, depicted in flight to the left with wings outstretched and forelegs raised. The figure is rendered in bold, if somewhat archaic, relief characteristic of Corinthian small-denomination coinage of the early fourth century BC. The body of Pegasus occupies the central field, with the wings spread prominently above. A small symbol, possibly a floral or palmette device, appears beneath the horse in the lower field.
