| Obverse description | Head of a wolf facing right, rendered in bold relief with characteristic pointed snout, open jaws, and pricked ear visible above the skull. The design fills the flan with an immediacy typical of Argive coinage, the wolf being the sacred animal of Apollo Lykeios, patron deity of Argos. The modelling is vigorous yet summary, consistent with the small module of the denomination, with surface flow lines on the flan visible around the type. |
