Obverse description Forepart of a bridled horse's head facing right, rendered in bold archaic relief with finely incised mane striations. The bridle and cheekpiece are clearly delineated, conveying the characteristic vigour of early Thessalian equine iconography. The granular field surrounds the design on this irregularly shaped flan typical of early fifth-century BC hammered coinage.
