| Reverse description | A large epsilon (Ε) dominates the center of the plain flat field, flanked by the letters ΗΕ (H-form) to the left and ΑΡ to the right, with the rho (Ρ) rendered in retrograde form, together forming an abbreviation of the ethnic ΗΕΡΑΙΩΝ (Heraion), identifying the issuing community of Heraia in Arkadia. The letters are boldly incuse and simply engraved, consistent with archaic Greek epigraphy. The flan is irregular and slightly concave, characteristic of hand-hammered Greek coinage of this period. |
