Obverse description Facing bull's head rendered en face, occupying the full field, with prominent wide-set eyes, flared nostrils, and a broad muzzle rendered in high relief. The forehead displays finely engraved transverse striations indicating the animal's hide, with curved horns sweeping outward to either side. The Greek letter Φ appears to the left of the head and O to the right, together forming the ethnic abbreviation ΦO for Phokis. The design is characteristic of the early fifth-century Phokian federal coinage, executed in an archaic yet vigorous style.
