Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valentinian I facing right, rendered in the standard late Roman imperial portrait style. The emperor's effigy displays a pearl diadem across the brow, with the paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder. The surrounding circular legend reads D N VALENTINIANVS P F AVG, abbreviated from the full imperial titulature affirming his piety and divine favour. A beaded border frames the entire field. The portrait is characteristic of the Siscia mint's workshop production during the 360s–370s.
