Obverse description Right-facing pearl-diademed bust of Emperor Valentinian I, depicted draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial portrait style characteristic of the Valentinianic period. The pearl diadem is clearly articulated across the crown, with individual pearls visible above the brow. The cuirass and paludamentum are indicated at the truncation. The encircling legend DIV N VALENTINI-ANVS P F AVG runs clockwise around the bust within a beaded border.
