Obverse description Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Theodosius I facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style typical of the Theodosian period. The diadem consists of a row of pearls, and the paludamentum is visible at the shoulder. The surrounding Latin legend reads DN THEODOSIVS PF AVG, identifying the emperor as Dominus Noster Theodosius Pius Felix Augustus.
