Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Theodosius I rendered in the late Roman imperial style, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The effigy is depicted with characteristic late antique stylisation, the emperor's features set within a beaded border. The encircling Latin legend reads D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG, identifying the emperor as Our Lord Theodosius, Pious and Fortunate Augustus.
