Obverse description Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Theodosius I facing right, rendered in late Roman imperial style with fine detail to the layered diadem of beaded pearls and the decorated paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The effigy displays characteristic late antique portraiture with a strong profile, prominent eye, and elaborately rendered hair.
