| Obverse description | Draped bust of Flavia Maxima Theodora facing right, wearing a plain mantle secured at the shoulder and a necklace. The hair is elaborately dressed in the dynastic Constantinian fashion, arranged in ridged waves drawn back and gathered at the nape. The portrait is rendered in the late Roman official style with stylized facial features characteristic of the Theodoran memorial coinage. The obverse legend encircles the effigy, reading FL MAX THEODORAE AVG, honoring her posthumously with the title Augusta. |
