Additional information

Maximinus II's tenure as Augustus in the West was brief and contested — he shared power uneasily with Constantine I, and the London mint's output during 310–312 reflects that political friction directly. The PLN officina mark places this piece among a relatively small series struck at Londinium before Constantine effectively consolidated control of Britain and Gaul, after which the mint's role diminished sharply.

RIC VI 209b is distinguished from the closely related 209a by the star placement to the right of the field — a minor but catalogically decisive detail.
