| Obverse description | Laureate head of Maximinus II Daia facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial portrait style with bold, slightly stylized facial features. The legend encircles the effigy along the coin's border, reading IMP C GAL VAL MAXIMINVS P F AVG in Latin capitals. The portrait shows characteristic late Tetrarchic workmanship, with a pronounced laurel wreath and strongly modeled jaw. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hammered production at the Antioch mint during the early fourth century AD. |

In his raised right hand he holds the head of Sol, symbolizing divine solar favor, while his left hand bears a cornucopiae, representing abundance. A star appears in the left field, an officina numeral occupies the right field, and the mintmark is inscribed in the exergue. The reverse legend GENIO AV-GVSTI is distributed across the field in bold Latin capitals, reflecting the Tetrarchic theological program honoring the imperial Genius. |
