| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Maxentius facing right, with a prominent neck and the paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The obverse legend IMP C MAXENTIVS P F AVG runs clockwise around the periphery in Latin capitals. The portraiture reflects the late Tetrarchic style, with strong, blocky facial features and a pronounced brow characteristic of the period. The flan is slightly irregular, with some weakness at the edges consistent with hand-hammered production. |
