Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Maxentius facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style with fine detail to the pauldron and neck. The emperor's portrait conveys a commanding, mature aspect consistent with official coinage of his reign. The circumferential Latin legend IMP C MAXENTIVS P F AVG is disposed around the bust, reading clockwise from the lower left. The beaded border frames the design on the obverse field. The overall die-cutting reflects the accomplished workmanship of the Rome mint during the early fourth century.
