| Obverse description | Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Magnus Maximus facing right, rendered in the schematic late Roman style typical of the Arelate mint. The emperor's effigy is depicted with a pearl diadem and visible paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The Latin legend D N MAG MAXIMUS P F AVG runs around the circumference, partially divided by the bust. The flan is irregular and slightly porous, with a dark brown patina consistent with a bronze nummus of the late fourth century. |
