| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Licinius I facing right, the emperor depicted with a radiate crown, wearing military dress with paludamentum visible over the shoulder. The Latin imperial titulature encircles the effigy as a continuous legend around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is rendered in the late Roman tetrarchic style, with bold, somewhat stylized facial features characteristic of the Constantinian period. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-struck production of the era. |

| Reverse description | Jupiter standing facing left, nude but for a chlamys draped over his left shoulder, holding a Victory on a globe in his extended right hand and a long scepter or eagle-tipped spear in his left. An eagle with spread wings stands at his feet to the left, and a captive or bound figure crouches at lower right. The reverse legend IOVI CONS-ERVATORI flanks the deity on either side. The mintmark SMNA appears in the exergue, identifying this as the first officina of the Nicomedia mint. |
