| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Licinius I facing right, rendered in the Tetrarchic style with finely incised radiate crown and layered military paludamentum visible at the truncation. The emperor's effigy is boldly modelled with a strong profile, short beard, and prominent features characteristic of the period. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP LICINIVS P F AVG, identifying the emperor as Imperator Licinius Pius Felix Augustus. The legend runs clockwise around the full circumference of the flan, interrupted only by the bust truncation at the base. The overall die work reflects the robust, somewhat schematic engraving style typical of the Trier mint during the early Constantinian era. |
