| Obverse description | Right-facing bust of Emperor Leo I, rendered in late antique style, adorned with a pearl diadem, draped paludamentum over cuirass, with visible shoulder-fastening. The imperial effigy is rendered in low relief characteristic of fifth-century Eastern Roman bronze coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait in the field, reading D N LEO PERPET AVG, affirming his perpetual Augustan authority. |
