| Obverse description | Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justinian I facing, depicted in the late antique imperial tradition with schematic rendering characteristic of small provincial bronze coinage. The emperor's face is rendered frontally with broad features, wearing a plumed or crested helmet adorned with pendilia or lateral ornaments. The bust is truncated at the shoulders, showing the upper portion of a cuirass. The flan is irregular and the design is somewhat crude in execution, consistent with the output of the Carthage mint for this denomination. |
