Reverse description Central field occupied by the retrograde or stylized monogram of Marcian, formed from the letters M, A, and R interlaced in a cruciform arrangement. The monogram is boldly rendered in a simplified, angular style typical of Vandal bronze coinage. The field is otherwise plain, with no exergual inscription or border decoration. The execution is consistent with the ad hoc engraving practices observed at the Carthage mint during the mid-to-late fifth century.
