Additional information

Helena, mother of Constantine I, died around 329 AD — years before this coin was struck. These posthumous issues were produced under Constantinus II as part of a deliberate memorial coinage program launched after Constantine I's own death in 337, honoring the dynasty's female predecessors alongside the deified emperor himself. Trier was the dominant western mint at this moment, still operating at high volume as the sons of Constantine divided the empire among themselves.

RIC VIII 55 is a relatively common type from the Trier sequence, distinguished by its mint officina marks.
