Obverse description Draped bust of Helena facing right, her hair arranged in an elaborate coiffure with a diadem or crown, wearing a mantle fastened at the shoulder and a necklace. The empress is rendered in the formal imperial portrait style characteristic of Constantinian court iconography. The obverse legend encircles the bust in Latin capitals, identifying her with the title Augusta. The portrait displays the dignified, slightly idealized features typical of late Roman numismatic portraiture of female imperial family members.
