| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed bust of Emperor Diocletian facing right, rendered in the robust military portrait style characteristic of the Tetrarchic period. The emperor's features are depicted with a short beard and stern expression, consistent with official Tetrarchic iconography. The cuirass is visible at the truncation, conveying imperial military authority. The peripheral legend IMP DIOCLETIANVS AVG encircles the effigy, reading clockwise from the lower left. The flan shows slight irregularity at the edge, typical of late third-century hammered bronze coinage. |
