| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Crispus facing right, depicted with youthful features in the Roman imperial tradition. The legend encircles the bust, rendered in Latin capital letters within the outer border. The portrait conveys the conventional idealized imagery associated with junior co-emperors of the Constantinian dynasty. The field shows typical characteristics of the Arelate mint's die-cutting style of the early fourth century AD. |

| Additional information |
Crispus, Constantine's eldest son and a capable military commander who defeated Licinius's fleet at the Battle of the Hellespont in 324, was executed on his father's orders in 326 — just four years after this piece was struck. The reasons remain historically contested; ancient sources hint at allegations involving his stepmother Fausta, who herself was killed shortly after. Constantine subsequently subjected Crispus to damnatio memoriae, making coins issued in his name effectively frozen relics of a politically erased figure.
