Obverse description Radiate, cuirassed bust of Crispus facing left, with spear held diagonally across the right shoulder and a shield on the left arm. The portrait conveys a military character appropriate to the Caesar's status. The obverse legend encircles the bust, identifying the subject as Julius Crispus, Noble Caesar. The die workmanship is typical of the Treveri mint in the early fourth century.
