Reverse description The reverse presents a four-line votive inscription enclosed within a laurel wreath, the wreath tied at its base with a decorative binding. The votive legend VOT XX MVLT XXX commemorates the completion of Constantius II's twentieth regnal vow (votis vicennalibus) and anticipates the thirtieth (multis tricennalibus), a standard honorific formula struck during the decennial celebrations of 347-348. The mint mark appears in the exergue below the wreath, identifying the officina of the Nicomedia mint. The overall design is spare and epigraphic, characteristic of the reduced late Roman nummus denomination.
Reverse script Latin
Reverse lettering VOT XX MVLT XXX SMNS
(Translation: Wishes for the twentieth year of reign and more for the incoming thirtieth year.)
