| Reverse description | The emperor Constantius II, draped and cuirassed, stands left aboard a galley, holding a phoenix on a globe in his right hand and a labarum standard bearing a Chi-Rho (Christogram) monogram on its banner in his left hand. A Victory, seated at the stern, steers the vessel, symbolising divine guidance of the imperial ship of state. The reverse legend FEL TEMP - REPARATIO (Restoration of Happy Times) flanks the central figure, and the mintmark appears in the exergue identifying the Treveri officina. This type belongs to the celebrated FEL TEMP REPARATIO galley series struck under the Constantinian dynasty from 348 AD. |
