| Reverse description | A helmeted, draped, and cuirassed Roman soldier advances to the left, thrusting a spear downward with his right hand to pierce a fallen horseman below. His left arm bears a round shield, and an additional shield rests on the ground to the right. The fallen horseman, shown diademed and facing the soldier, extends his left arm in a gesture of submission or supplication — a motif symbolising Roman military supremacy over barbarian foes. A Greek officina letter appears in the left field, and the exergue carries the mint signature SMH with the officina designation, identifying the Heraclea mint. |
