Reverse description A Roman soldier, helmeted and in military dress, stands to the left thrusting a spear downward at a fallen enemy horseman who is bare-headed and bearded, depicted reaching backward with one arm in a gesture of supplication or defiance. The scene embodies the FEL TEMP REPARATIO ('The return of happy times') propagandistic type, celebrating Roman military supremacy over barbarian foes. The mintmark CONSA appears in the exergue, indicating production at the first officina of the Constantinople mint.
