Reverse description Standing figure of Hercules facing left, nude, holding a club in his right hand and a lion's skin draped over his extended left arm, rendered in the idealized heroic manner common to Tetrarchic reverses. The legend HERCVLI VICTORI flanks the figure on either side, proclaiming devotion to the victorious Hercules, the divine patron associated with the Herculian dynasty of Maximian and his Caesars. The officina letter appears in the field, and the mint mark ALE is inscribed in the exergue, identifying the Alexandria mint. A small S and P appear flanking the figure in the field as additional officina indicators.
