Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantius Gallus as Caesar facing right, rendered with fine striated hair. The Greek letter delta (Δ) appears in the left field behind the head. The obverse legend DN CONSTANTIVS IVN NOB C runs around the periphery in Latin capitals, identifying the subject as a junior member of the imperial college. The portrait exhibits the elongated facial features characteristic of mid-fourth-century Roman die engraving.
