Reverse description A military standard (vexillum) displayed prominently at centre, bearing the votive inscription VOT XX in two lines on its banner, commemorating the emperor's twentieth vow. Two captive barbarians are seated on the ground on either side of the standard, rendered in a pose of submission. The letter S appears in the left field and F in the right field, serving as officina or control marks. The reverse legend VIRTVS EXERCIT encircles the design, with the mintmark TSε in the exergue identifying the fifth officina of the Thessalonica mint.
