| Obverse description | Helmeted and draped bust of Constantinopolis personified facing left, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet and imperial mantle, holding a sceptre over the right shoulder. The circumferential Latin legend CONSTANTINOPOLIS runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is rendered in a late Constantinian workshop style, with bold, slightly stylised features characteristic of the Lugdunum mint in the early 330s. |
