Obverse description Laureate and helmeted bust of Constantinopolis, draped and mantled, facing left, holding a sceptre over the right shoulder. The helmet is crested and the portrait displays a strongly idealized, personified city-goddess effigy. The encircling legend CONSTANTINOPOLIS is rendered in raised Latin capitals around the periphery of the flan.
