Obverse description Helmeted and laureate bust of the personification Constantinopolis facing left, draped in an imperial mantle, with a reversed spear resting on the left shoulder. The effigy is rendered in a commanding military style characteristic of Constantinian commemorative coinage. The legend CONSTANTINOPOLI encircles the bust, identifying the city-goddess honoring the newly founded capital.
