| Obverse description | Right-facing laureate and cuirassed bust of Constantine I in his capacity as Caesar, rendered with fine detail characteristic of the London mint's early fourth-century output. The laureate wreath is prominently modelled, with individual berries clearly articulated above the brow. The cuirass is depicted with carefully engraved pteryges at the shoulder, conveying the subject's military identity. The surrounding Latin legend, reading clockwise from lower left, identifies the subject by his full titulature as nobilissimus Caesar. The flan shows slight irregularity at the edges, typical of hammered production at Londinium circa AD 307. |
