| Reverse description | The reverse depicts two helmeted soldiers standing facing one another in a symmetrical composition, each grasping a spear in the outer hand while resting the inner hand upon a grounded shield. A single legionary standard is positioned between the two figures, a design motif common to the GLORIA EXERCITVS type introduced under Constantine I and continued under his sons. The reverse legend GLOR•IA EXERC-ITVS, meaning Glory of the Army, is divided across the upper field. The exergue contains the Cyzicus mint mark (SMK) along with an officina letter identifying the specific workshop, though heavily obscured by patination on this example. |
