Obverse description Right-facing pearl-diademed effigy of Emperor Arcadius, rendered as a draped and cuirassed bust of Late Antique style. The pearl diadem is rendered with characteristic dotted detail, and the paludamentum is fastened at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend D N ARCADIVS P F AVG — Dominus Noster Arcadius Pius Felix Augustus — runs along the coin's periphery. The flan is notably small and irregular, consistent with the reduced nummus denomination of the Theodosian period.
